Why take the Alzheimer Disease and Dementia Seminar?

A loved one has Dementia

You were diagnosed with Dementia

Everyone either knows or will know someone with Alzheimer's or Dementia.  Why not learn the tools you need to help not you and them?

You were diagnosed with Dementia

You were diagnosed with Dementia

You may feel lost and alone, traversing this new world.  But we are here to help you start to understand what's happening

You work in a LTC facility

With 10,000 baby boomers a day turning 65, we need to empower staff now.  No matter what your role is, you are a part of their life.

You are a nurse and need CEUs

We can offer nurses 7 CEUs for this seminar.  We offer CEUs through InsPAC.

You are curious about Dementia

There is so much information about Dementia that sometimes you don't know where to start.  You need to start at the beginning with us.

What if the answer is: All of the above

There is nothing worse than knowing what to expect without actually knowing.  One size does not fit all, other people's journey will not be yours.

What will I learn in your seminar?

You will learn what Alzheimer's and Dementia is

We will talk about statistics and terminology.

We will review and discuss the modules:

  • Diagnosis
  • Prognosis
  • Treatment
  • Communication
  • Feelings
  • Depression
  • Repetitive behavior
  • Paranoia
  • Hallucinations
  • Wandering
  • Hoarding
  • Aggressive behaviors
  • Catastrophic reactions
  • Intimacy and sexuality
  • Personal Care
  • Pain
  • Nutrition
  • Activities
  • Environment
  • Staff and family support
  • Diversity and cultural competence
  • Spiritual care and end of life

Is this at all interactive?

Sometimes the best way to understand something is to hear real life stories.  You will hear our stories and we hope to hear yours. We will have brain breaks as well as lunch and 15-minute breaks.

Is this live?

Yes, you will be in direct communication with the instructor the entire time.

You need to be on camera so that your attendance is captured throughout and you should ensure that your camera and microphone work 3 days prior to the seminar.

Please have pen/paper for note taking.
